Ambulance service reports increase in 999 calls received on New Year’s Day 2017

WEST Midlands Ambulance Service received 866 emergency calls from throughout Staffordshire on New Year’s Day.

The figure is almost two hundred more than the number of 999 calls taken on the opening day of 2016.

Daily calls also showed an increase in the county on December 29, 30 and 31 and January compared to the corresponding period reported last year.

Calls ranged from patients suffering breathing difficulties and chest pains to drinkers who had been assaulted.
