Leek store falls victim to armed robbers

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery carried out on a Leek convenience store at the weekend.

Two masked men fled with hundreds pounds from Premier Stores, in Queens Drive, on the Haregate Estate, after threatening staff with a large knife.

The attack happened at around 6.30pm on Saturday and police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses.

A police spokesman said that although the shop assistants were shaken they were not injured. The offenders are thuoght to have stolen around £900 cash.
