Temporary shuttle bus service is introduced to help stranded villagers

KINGSLEY Holt residents have welcomed the introduction of a temporary bus service after roadworks threatened to leave them stranded for several months.

The essential laying of a replacement gas mean has meant the closure of the main road into Cheadle.

Bus operators First Potteries and D&G suspended services through the village until the work was completed.

However, following a vigorous campaign by villagers First have now agreed to introduce a half-hour shuttle bus from Monday to Friday with connections to Hanley, Tean and Uttoxeter.

The service operates every half-hour Monday to Saturday from 7.15am to 6pm between Kingsley Holt and Cheadle town centre via Kingsley Moor.

Drew Etches, landlord of The Blacksmiths Arms in the village, has been assisting local residents without their own transport by running essential errands for them and taking them to important appointments
