LOCAL residents are raising their glasses to district councillors who rejected plans for a housing development on a Leek pub car park.
A developer had sought permission to build two three-bedroom semi-detached homes next to The Priory on Abbots Road.
After hearing objections from residents and local councillors district council planning committee members voted 10-2 to throw out the application.
The development would have reduced the number of spaces on the pub car park from 46 to 24.
Committee member Margaret Lovatt said taking away half the car park would affect local organisations who met at the pub.
