New speed restrictions planned for busy commuter route in the Moorlands

Staffordshire Highways Authority has answered urgent calls for new speed restrictions to be introduced on a busy commuter route in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Dozens of collisions – some fatal – have occurred on the A52 and the A522 between Cheadle and Cellarhead in recent years.

Issues about the safety on the two roads, which link the  Cheadle district with the Potteries, have been raised by both community leaders and local residents.

County councillor Mark Deaville, cabinet member for transport and highways, has announced plans replace the existing national speed restriction between the JCB factory on Leek Road, Cheadle and Cellarhead crossroads.
