Public consultation into threatened hospital closure is delayed

A 12-week public consultation into the future of Leek Moorlands Hospital, which was due to begin this month, has been postponed until a later date.

The governing bodies of the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG’s) have announced the consultation will not now commence until after the Stoke Central by-election on February 23 and the local county council elections on May 4.

An online petition against the threatened closure of the Leek hospital attracted more than 13,000 signatures within days of being posted in the web.

The petition was instigated by district councillor Pam Wood, a former nurse and ward manager at the hospital.
