Police appeal after OAP theatre volunteer injured in attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault outside Cheadle Youth Centre, in Station Road, at around nine o’clock on Saturday night.

A 65 year old man sustained injuries when he was pushed to the ground while challenging a group of teenagers about their behaviour on the car park.

The injured man was a volunteer steward at Cheadle Amateur Theatrical Society’s production Peter Pan. He confronted the youths about banging on car roofs.

A police spokesman said the man sustained injuries to his hand and knee and was also left very shaken by the incident.

One of the suspects was wearing a black tracksuit top and another a light tracksuit top. One had thick wavy hair, which was closely shaved at the back and sides.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Dave Stubbs by calling Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 821 of February 25.
