Betfred Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter Races

AROUND 16,000 horseracing fans are expected to converge on Uttoxeter today to watch the Betfred Midlands Grand National.

The Michael Scudamore-trained Mysteree, boasting two wins from three starts this season, is likely to set off in the 16-strong field as the likely favourite.

Last time out the nine-year-old captured the Eider Chase, run over a similar distance of four-miles at Newcastle in February.

The eight-race card starts with the Betfred Novices Handicap Hurdle at 1.30 and concludes with the Betfred Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 5.50.

Jennie Candlish, who trains at Basford Green, near Leek, sends out Aengus in the 3.00 Betfred Handicap Hurdle, hoping to add to her success at Fakenham yesterday, where she had two winners.
