Developer pulls out of Biddulph over-50s project

DEVELOPERS have pulled out of building an over-50’s accommodation complex at Biddulph.

The Wrekin Housing Trust were proposing to develop the former Meadows Special School site.

However, as a result changing regulations affecting social landlords, the Right to Buy scheme and a lengthy planning process the Trust claim the project is no longer viable.

Staffordshire County Council, which owns the derelict site, is now trying find an alternative use.

The site has been lying derelict since a blaze gutted the school buildings in 2004.
