Ben is on a mission to land more cash for punters

THE Basford Green racing stables of Jennie Candlish are banking on Basford Ben to land them an Easter treat at Carlise today (writes Gary Shenton).

Basford Ben runs in the 3m 2ft Handicap Chase at 4.30, bidding to make it three success wins from three in the race, having finished first in 2015 and 2016 for owner Alan Baxter.

The nine year old finished a well beaten eighth of 12 on his last outing at Warwick in December.

However, Ben has shown a distinct liking for the Carlisle venue, pictured, where the horse has gained five wins over course and distance.

In fact £23,069 of Ben’s £26,838 prize money from 46 starts has been pocketed at Carlilse.

Maybe another 300-mile round trip will pay off yet again for one of the stars of the Candlish yard. Jockey Sean Quinlan takes the ride.
