THE Miss Staffordshire 2017 final will take place at the King’s Hall, Stoke, on Thursday, May 18.
Newcastle businesswoman Joanne Clay has taken over the running of this year’s contest.
The popular pageant was previously run by the Uttoxeter Racecourse management.
Joanne owns the To The Nines boutique where the finalists were trying on their dresses this week.
Among them was Leek’s Tania Garside, pictured, who has entered a beauty pageant for the very first time – on the insistence of her mum, Valerie Johnson.
Receptionist Tania, 25, is being sponsored by her employer Agnew Equine of Biddulph Moor.
Tania has been getting herself into shape for her big night next month with extra sessions at the gym and climbed Mount Snowdon (1,o85 metres) in Wales at the weekend.
If Tania wins the contest she plans to champion the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent as her chosen charity.
Tania recently raised several hundred pounds for the hospice by taking part in the Dougie Mac 5k run/walk around the Wedgwood Estate, at Barlaston, accompanied by her older sister Becky Moody.
The hospice is self-sufficient and needs to raise around £12 million a year to provide its care services free of charge.
