Arsonists destroy historic wagons at Foxfield Railway

ARSONISTS have destroyed century-old wooden-bodied wagons at the Blythe Bridge-based Foxfield Railway.

The historic wooden-bodied wagons, which transported coal and metals for local industry, had been earmarked for refurbishment by volunteers at the railway.

Foxfield Railway is one of the UK’s earliest heritage railways and is based on┬áthe old mineral line which connected the former Foxfield Colliery at Dilhorne with the main Stoke-Derby railway line at Blythe Bridge.

Anyone with information about the arson attack is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
