County council elections across Staffordshire today

COUNTY council elections are being held in seven wards of the Staffordshire Moorlands today.

Some schools have been closed across the county to act as polling stations, including Leek First School and Westwood First School in the Moorlands.

The polling stations will stay open until 10am and an overall result is expected to be declared in Stafford’s County Buildings tomorrow afternoon.

The Conservatives have held power since the last election with 34 councillors , with Labour on 22,  one Green and one UKIP member, and four independents in opposition.

Werrington member William Day is not seeking re-election.
