LOCAL horse racing trainer Jennie Candlish has run up a 75 per cent success rate with her runners in recent days.
Yesterday’s victory by Restraint of Trade, at Uttoxeter Races, made it three wins from four starts in five days with runners from her Basford Green yard.
Costa Percy set the ball rolling by winning a hurdles race at Hexham on Saturday. Then the following day Beeves stormed to victory in a chase at Perth.
All three wins were achieved under the stable’s regular jockey Sean Quinlan.
Costa Percy and Beeves are both owned by Paul and Clare Rooney, who have around 120 horses in training at different yards around the country.
Candlish went close to making it four wins from five starts when Zoro – another chaser owned by the mega-rich Rooneys’ – fellow two fences out when going well and challenging for the lead in a 2m4f race at Bangor today.
