Bowls in mourning for legend Len Bradbury

IT is with deep sadness that I record the death of 94 year old Len Bradbury, President of Leek Park Bowling Club.

Len, formerly of Baddeley Green, who spent his final years in a Leek nursing home, was an outstanding bowls player in his hey-day.

He figured in many top competitions and represented Staffordshire at national level on numerous occasions.

Failing health eventually forced Len to ‘jack in’ as a player, but he remained actively involved with the Leek Park club in his senior official capacity

Len began playing bowls as a 20 year old and played his last league game 70 years later, aged 90.

He was a familiar figure at the club’s home and away fixtures, and he was ever-willing to pass on his expertise to aspiring players.

God bless Len. Leek has lost another sporting legend.
