Cheadle sizzle to a shock Talbot Cup win in the heat

CHEADLE pulled of a huge giantkilling act in the Talbot Cup with a sensational 112- runs third round victory over top flight Longton on Sunday.

The Division One side made hay in the hot sunshine running up 323-3 off their 45 overs against their opponents from the Premier Division.

Cheadle harvested the runs through Tom Edwards (88), Ali Khan (118 not out), skipper Craig Smith (44) and Adam Alcock (27 not out).

Darren Plant (41) worked hard to get Longton back into the game against his former club, but the hosts were 211-9 at stumps, Oliver Edwards taking 4-55 for the surprise victorious visitors.
