Cricket club rolls out the barrel for booze fans this weekend

GLASSES will be raised at a tasty social event at Leek Cricket Club this weekend.

It’s the club’s annual Summer Beer Festival at their Highfield ground on Macclesfield Road.

Prosecco and gin have been added to the 80-plus beers and cider on offer this year.

The three-day festival will open tonight (Friday) with a performance by the band Greg Murray and the Seven Wonders.

Teams from local sports clubs and businesses will also be taking part in a six-a-side cricket competition.

The beer festival is an extra attraction for spectators at tomorrow’s Leek 1st XI’s North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League fixture against Longton.

Leek have made good start to the new cricket season and are currently second in the Premier Division table.
