DEVELOPERS are drawing up plans for the first phase of a proposed £12 million development on a 16-acre brownfield site in Leek.
Sixty homes are planned on the site of a former Hughes Concrete factory as part of the Cornhill scheme at Barnfields, which is being backed by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
Outline planning permission has already been agreed for the ambitious project by the Rochdale-based Casey Group.
The overall scheme includes plans for up to 175 homes, a pub or family restaurant, a railway station and a 20-berth marina connected to the Caldon Canal.
The proposed development would be served by a new relief road linking the A520 (Leek-Stone road) with the A53 (Leek-Potteries road).
