Two big neighbouring sporting attractions to enjoy in Leek

THERE are two big sporting attractions within close proximity of each other in Leek tomorrow (Saturday).

Football fans can watch Stoke City U23’s take on Leek Town in a pre-season friendly at Harrison Park (2pm), while a little further up the road at Highfield, pictured, cricket followers can watch Leek face Premier Division title rivals Meakins in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League (1pm).

The Stoke senior squad are away at a training camp in Switzerland, but the Potters have enough strength in depth left behind to provide Blues with testing pre-season challenge.

The cricket clash brings together two teams keen to close the gap on unbeaten league leaders Porthill Park, the defending champions.

Leek are 18 points adrift of Porthill in second place and 19 above Meakins in third.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Moorlands teams Ashcombe Park are way to Betley and Checkley are at home to Audley.
