Stoke City’s rising young stars held by a battling Leek Town

STOKE City U23’s included their exciting young capture from Manchester City, Tyrese Campbell, in their squad for today’s pre-season friendly at Leek Town.

The Potters had to fork out £750,000 up front to their Premiership rivals for the 17 year old England Youth international striker, with the prospect of paying future add-ons, including an additional £500,000 if Campbell wins a senior international cap for his country.

Also in the Stoke-line-up were Scottish junior international central defender Harry Souttar, recruited from Dundee United, and local product Ollie Shenton, from Blythe Bridge, who has already made the Stoke first team squad.

Stoke took a 10th minute lead through the talented Campbell, but Leek were rewarded for a battling performance with an equaliser in the second-half scored by Tim Grice (pictured).

Attendance: 270.
