RESIDENTS of a Moorlands village are in danger of losing their local post office.
Brown Edge postmaster Maurice Shelvin and wife Chrissy say their business is struggling to survive, because their income has been squeezed so much by the Post Office.
Maurice and Chrissy have run the village post office, on High Lane, for the past 11 years.
Despite diversifying to improve income, including selling groceries, the couple say the business has continued to struggle.
The post office has been kept open by the Shelvins living off their savings.
A Post Office spokesman said they are committed to maintaining a service in Brown Edge.
“We are seeking alternative premises for the post office, so local retailers interested in this business opportunity should contact us on 0845 266 8790.”
