Young Leek man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

POLICE investigating the crash which claimed the life of a young Cheddleton woman earlier this month have arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was the driver of the car in which 22 year old Amy Savage, pictured, was a back seat passenger when it collided with a wall and overturned on Bottom Lane, Onecote, near Leek, on the morning of Sunday, July 2.

The 26 year old, from Leek, who has not been named, provided a positive breath test at the scene.

Amy, from Cheddleton, was prounced dead at the scene.

One other passenger, a 30 year old Biddulph man, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash which involved a red VW Passat and happened at around 7am.

They are asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 192 of July 2.
