Leek win through to the semi-finals of the JS Sports Talbot Cup

LEEK booked a place in the semi-finals of the JS Sports Talbot Cup by beating Cheadle by nine wickets at Highfield.

A fine all-round performance by former Leicestershire county player Wayne White, pictured, steered Leek to their comfortable victory.

White’s man-of-the-match performance saw him claim three wickets for 33 runs and then hit an unbeaten century (102).

There were outstanding half-century contributions too from the teams’ opposing overseas stars, Ali Khan (Cheadle) and Zohaib Khan (Leek), whi hit 73 and 62 respectively.

Leek now face North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League Premier Division leaders Porthill Park away in the last four of the competition..
