LASAR Radio supports Save Leek Hospital campaign

LASAR Radio has added its support to the public campaign to save Leek Moorlands Hospital.

Cross-party backing for the campaign is gaining momentum from community leaders at town, district and now county council level.

A petition containing 23,000  signatures was supported at a meeting of Staffordshire County Council in Stafford last week.

A motion from Leek county councillor Charlotte Atkins, the former Staffordshire Moorlands Labour MP, which called for the the council to recognise the vital role played by the hospital and urged the Clinical Commissioning Group to ensure its proposals are in the best interests of patients, was supported unanimously by the Conservative-controlled authority.

Save Leek Hospital campaigner Pam Wood, district councillor and newly-elected Independent town council member for Leek East Ward, also received a round of applause from county councillors after addressing the meeting.
