Minor Counties cricket is coming to Checkley for the first time

CHECKLEY Cricket Club will host their first-ever Unicorns Championship fixture at their Uttoxeter Road ground this weekend.

Staffordshire will be playing host to Hertfordshire at Four Trees for their penultimate three-day Eastern Division encounter, starting on Sunday.

Play on all three days will start at 11am and admission is free.

Refreshments will be available throughout and a big crowd is expected to celebrate this historic occasion on the local cricket scene.

Checkley’s Matthew Arnold and Richard Williams have been playing for the North Staffs and South Cheshire League Academy XI in their first-ever two-day fixture against Derbyshire 2nd XI at Longton.
