Blues travel to Alvechurch to begin new season in the NPL

LEEK Town commence their 2017-18 campaign in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier League with a trip to Alvechurch tomorrow (Saturday).

Alvechurch were promoted to Division One South of the NPL at the end of last season after topping the Midland League Premier Division.

Blues newly-installed boss Neil Baker has a near full-strength squad to choose from, including three key players who have recovered from injury – strikers Tim Grice (hamstring) and Johnny Higham (ankle) and midfielder Dan Shelley (calf) – but winger Sam Grimshaw, pictured, has not yet fully recovered from an ankle injury.

Blues open their home league programme against Belper Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm), before stepping onto the Wembley trail against Cammell Laird in the Emirates FA Cup preliminary round at Harrison Park next Saturday (3pm).
