Cheadle cricketers are gathering in the silverware at Tean Road

CHEADLE Cricket Club are gleefully gathering in the silverware this summer.

With the season still a month to run two trophies are already proudly on display at the club’s Tean Road ground.

The club followed up its unexpected success against NSSCL Premier Division side Meakins in the Phoenix 15 final, when the Sunday 3rd XI claimed the Stone League’s Bailey Shield after beating Alsager 3rds by four wickets.

The Bailey Shield final was played in a Twenty20 forma,t with both sides playing two innings, and featured outstanding individual performances from Cheadle’s Oliver Edwards (6-15) and Ryan Day (52).

Bailey Shield Final highlights:-

First innings:

ALSAGER 3rds 112-9 (Majid Hussain 41; S Hussain 26; Oliver Edwards 6-15); CHEADLE 3rds 114-9 (Alex Bloor 29; Tanveer Ahmed 3-6).

Second innings: ALSAGER 3rds 138-9 (Tanveer Ahmed 34, Muhammed Azam 35); CHEADLE 3rds 138-6 (Ryan Day 52, Adam Hughes 20, Jonathan Clowes 24no; Muhammed Azam 3-32).
