Veteran cross-country runners faced challenging conditions

CHEADLE Running Club hosted the annual invitation veterans’ cross-country event at Oakamoor Cricket Club. ¬†

Torrential rain during the previous days made for very muddy, challenging conditions.  However, the assembled teams were undeterred by this and competitive races ensued.

The men’s race winner was Martin Hull (Trentham Apes) in 39:14, followed by Dave Allen (Cheadle ‘R’) in 40:17 and Bryn Homes (Trentham Apes) in 40:24.

Trentham Apes won the team award with 14 points, followed by Cheadle ‘R’ on 29.

The ladies event was won by Deb Thomas (Trentham Sharks) in 28:26, followed by Wendy Swift (Trentham Sharks) in 28:36 and Jenny Day (Cheadle ‘A’) in 28:59.

Trentham Sharks won the ladies team event with eight points, followed by Cheadle ‘A’ on 13.

Cheadle Running Club’s Rebecca Harrison competed in the Burton 10k, taking third ladies position in a time of 40:13. The club’s Chris Green also won the MV60 prize in 42:07.
