Cheadle Town are beaten by the new Premier Division leaders

STAFFORDSHRE COUNTY SENIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE

CHEADLE Town’s undefeated start to the season ended when they went down 2-0 to visitors Alsager Town last night.

A victory would have taken Cheadle to the top of the Premier Division, but instead Alsager now occupy pole position after extending their unbeaten run to six games.

Alsager arrived at Thorley Drive as a serious threat, having held the then league leaders Wolstanton United to a 2-2 at home the previous week.

Last night’s defeat dropped Cheadle down from second to fourth place in the table.

Leek CSOB moved up to third spot after beating Knypersley Victoria 2-0 at Pointon Park, while Ball Haye Green put up a tremendous fight against visitors Eastwood Hanley, only to a lose a thriller at by the odd goal of seven.
