LEEK Indian restaurant chef Shuyab Ali is the nation’s newly-crowned ‘King of Curry.’
The 31 year old, who is employed by the town’s award-winning Pabna restaurant, came out tops at the recent English Curry Awards challenge in Manchester.
Shuyab, from Stoke-on-Trent, won over the judges with his three-course banquet.
“The judges were impressed with the quality of the food and as well as the presentation, but I was shocked to win,” he said.
“It is a great honour and has made my hard work over the last 12 years worth it. There isn’t a better personal achievement. It’s given me a great boost in confidence.”
