Young man assaulted and robbed while walking home in the early hours

A 20-year-old man was assaulted and robbed as he walked home with a friend from a local festival at the weekend in the Draycott area.

The incident happened at around 1.25am on Sunday outside the Sultan Buffet Restaurant on Uttoxeter Road.

As two friends were walking along the road, a silver hatchback slammed to a halt and five or six men got out of the vehicle.

The 20-year-old was then assaulted by two or three of the men who repeatedly punched him in the head and then stole his jacket and wallet.

The victim’s friend was pursued by the other offenders towards Draycott but managed to make his escape.  All offenders then made off in the vehicle.

Shortly after, the offenders returned in the vehicle from the Blythe Bridge direction, and threw the victim’s jacket and wallet out of the car. An amount of cash had been stolen.
The victim suffered cuts to the head as a result of the assault and was treated at the scene by paramedics

Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, or for any information that could assist with their investigation. Call them on 101, quoting incident 59 of September 3.
