Cemetery visitors with dogs could land themselves in a mess with authority

DOG owners are being urged not to take their pets into Cheadle Cemetery – or they could risk getting into a mess with the local authority.

Town councillors have issued a warning following complaints that some dogs are roaming around the Church Street site and defecating graves.

The council is considering erecting more signs to remind people at dogs are barred from the town cemetery

Local councillor Peter Elkin said: “My sympathy goes out to those whose loved ones’ graves have been defiled by these disgusting people who allow their dogs to roam free.”

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council warn people who fail to clear up after their dog has fouled in a public place face a £80 fixed penalty charge.
