Four men held in custody by police following armed robbery

FOUR men in their thirties are in police custody following an armed robbery at the Tesco Express store on Stone Road, Stafford on Wednesday night.

The men are all from the Stafford area.
Three women employed at the store were about to leave, after closing at 11pm, when two masked men carrying large knives forced them back inside.

One of the women was forced to open the safe and cash tills and the two robbers emptied the cash into bags and boxes, along with a large quantity of cigarettes.

They then made another woman drive her colleague’s Ford Mondeo to the loading bay, where they loaded up the stolen cash and goods after the car had been emptied. The pair then made off in the stolen car, which was later found abandoned in Fancy Walk, Stafford.

Anyone with information is asked to Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1 of October 5 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
