Concert of Remembrance in Cheadle to honour war dead

THE Moorlands market town of Cheadle is to hold a Concert of Remembrance to honour the war dead.

It is being organised by the Cheadle Discovery Group and will take place at Cheadle Academy Theatre on Saturday, November 11.

The concert will commence at 7.30pm and feature Florence Brass Band and the Fulford Community Choir.

This year marks the centenary of the Battle of Passchendale, also known as the Third Battle of Ypres, which raged between July and November 1917.

The infamous First World War battle claimed the lives of 325,000 Allied troops, of which an estimated 150,000 were British. Around 280,000 German troops were also killed.

Tickets for the Concert of Remembrance are on sale at the Discovery Centre, based at Lulworth House (pictured), on High Street, Cheadle and also at Donald Cope & Co, estate agents and insurance brokers, off Tape Street car park.
