Police serve notice on young trouble makers in Werrington and Cheadle

POLICE have carried out their threat to take firm action against young people causing trouble in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Twelve youths have been banned from Werrington for 48 hours after officers issued them with Section 35 notices under new dispersal powers.

Police have also taken dispersal action this evening against teenagers guilty of anti-social behaviour in Cheadle.

Officers have been reacting to complaints from angry villagers at Werrington about young people throwing eggs and apples at homes and vehicles.

Incidents of anti-social behaviour in Cheadle include bricks being thrown at buses and an arson attack on a building at Churchill Road recreation ground.

A 15 year old boy was banned from Cheadle town centre for 48 hours this evening for abusing staff at the Morrisons supermarket.

He was one of four teenagers issued with a Section 35 dispersal order in the town.

Elsewhere, a 15 year old girl has been detained on suspicion of a public order offence after verbally abusing a PCSO.
