Volunteers drivers needed by transport support scheme

MORE volunteer drivers are wanted to help provide a vital service for people without their own vehicle and who find it difficult to access public transport.

They are needed by Support Staffordshire’s Staffordshire Moorlands Voluntary Transport Scheme.

A Support Staffordshire spokesperson explained: “The scheme provides friendly, helpful volunteer drivers, who use their own cars to offer transport to those in need.”

Users can call on the scheme to take them to medical appointments, personal business, to visit friends and relations in hospital and also social events.

All drivers receive out of pocket expenses, including mileage at 45p per mile.
