POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road accident on the outskirts of Stafford last night (Nov 13).
The emergency services were called to the A51 near to the junction with Tolldish Lane, Great Haywood, at around 8.45pm, after a black Audi A3 was involved in a collision with a white Scania tanker lorry.
The road was closed for several hours during the incident.
The driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old woman from the Market Drayton area, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital but has sadly died as a result of her injuries.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “The woman’s family have been informed and are receiving the appropriate care and support from specially trained officers at this difficult time. Formal identification has not yet taken place. ”
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information that could help officers with their investigation, is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 803 of November 13.
