Overnight snow causes closure of two main roads in Derbyshire.

OVERNIGHT snow and freezing temperatures have created hazardous driving conditions on the A53 Leek to Buxton road.

Two main roads in Derbyshire – the A53 Cat & Fiddle and A57 Snake Pass – have been closed to traffic.

Gritting crews have been out and about treating roads in Derbyshire since yesterday afternoon. With more sleet and snow forecast motorists are being urged by police to drive with extra care.
