Forecasters warn of more snowfall in the Staffordshire Moorlands

MORE snow is forecast to fall over the Staffordshire Moorlands this evening and continue until teatime tomorrow (Saturday). Schools have remained open today across the district despite the deteriorating overnight weather.

County Highways teams have been out gritting roads to keep traffic on the move.

Temperatures are expected to fall to -1C tonight, making driving conditions extra hazardous for motorists, particularly on exposed country roads.

Drivers are urged to slow down and take extra care even on gritted roads.

The Met Office has warned Britain faces 10 days of Arctic weather with sub-zero temperatures likely to last throughout next week.

“Saturday is looking slightly calmer before another system comes in from the west on Sunday bringing more snow,” said a Met Office spokesman.
