THE National Lottery have generously given LASAR Radio a substantial amount of funding through the Big Lottery Fund.
The Fund is responsible for distributing 40 per cent of all the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery.
In 2014-15 financial year, the Big Lottery Fund awarded more than £1 billion to projects with a social mission.
The money given to LASAR Radio will be used to furnish a new studio at Bank House, on St Edward Street, Leek.
LASAR Radio Secretary John Barratt said: “This is unbelievable but welcome news, to get chosen first time round with our application shows what we have achieved so far and that the National Lottery believe in our community mission.
“In fact they [National Lottery] stated in their award email that they have recognised our hard work and community spirit.
“Now we look forward to presenting live shows from our new studio.
“The only thing we need to do now is to get on the FM frequency, We are in communication with Ofcom about applying for a licence, so its a watch this space”.
