Lottery fund backing for project to help young people with learning difficulties

THE Heritage Lottery Fund is backing a project that will help young people with learning difficulties get close to nature and learn new skills.

The fund has awarded £26,000 to the Churnet Youth project, a partnership between Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and Leek College, which will initially be based at the 40-acre Rod Wood nature reserve near Cheddleton.

The Rod Wood reserve contains a diversity of habitats and is a part of the Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership initiative which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The project will commence next Monday (December 18) and continue for one day per week during term time.
