Motorists face seven weeks of disruption in Moorlands village at the start of 2018

MOTORISTS will be faced with up to seven weeks of road closures in Oakamoor from the end next month.

The inconvenience is to allow new water pipes to be laid in the Staffordshire Moorlands village.

The project is part of a £400,000 investment in the district by Severn Trent Water during 2018.

The scheme is scheduled to start on Monday, January 29, beginningh at the junction of Ribden Road before moving along Star Bank and finishing at Hays Gate Farm.

Diversions will be put in place while the road between Ribden Road and Cotton Lane is closed.

Villagers are being invited to learn more about the project during a drop-in session at Oakamoor Village Hall on Wednesday, January !0, between 10pm and 4pm.

A Severn Trent Water’s Dave Kiernan, who is leading the programme, explained: “The existing pipes have been in place for many years and they may start to become more prone to leaks and bursts.

The new pipes we are planning to install will make sure we can keep water flowing through the pipes for many years to come.

We are sorry for any dispruption this causes.”
