Tuesday Sport: Leek rugby players can go fourth with a win

LEEK have a chance to go fourth in the Midland Division Two West (North) table this Saturday.

They travel to Walsall who are just one point better off immediately above them in the table with an identical record of six wins from 11 starts.

Walsall lost 21-13 away to struggling Kidderminster at the weekend, the latter registering what was only their second league win of the season.

Leek on the other hand were convincing 21-13 winners at home to Veseyans and will be favourites to pick up more points in their quest for promotion.

Their victory against Veseyans was achieved with the help of tries from veteran Luke Grainger, pictured, and Sam Hunt, together with the accurate kicking of Gary McDermott.

ROCESTER can make up for their disappointing Midland League form with a good run in the Staffs FA Senior Cup.

However, the Romans will have to step up considerably if they are to brush aside Stafford Rangers in tonight’s re-arranged second round tie at Hillsfield.

Rangers are lying mid-table in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division

The winners of tonight’s tie will host Kidsgrove Athletic from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League or Midland League side Stafford Town in the next round.
