Wednesday Sport: Potters Arf launch at Victoria Hall

THE 2018 Hanley Building Society Potters Arf race will be officially launched at the Victoria Hall, Hanley, this Saturday, between 9am and 1pm.

Athletes who register on the day will qualify a 25 per cent race fee discount and also receive a goody bag.

The North Staffordshire Road Runners Association, which supports this popular race, has increased its membership to 375 with the addition of 60 new members.

Members will choose their best 12 performances from this year’s 20 events in their championship bid.

Simon Myatt (Trentham Running Club) emerged as the men’s 2017 champion after a close finish with Carl Moulton (Boalloy RC) ,while Kristina Defries (Stone MM) won the ladies event.

LAST night’s scheduled Staffs FA Senior Cup second round tie between Rocester FC and Stafford Rangers was postponed because the Hillsfield pitch was waterlogged.

The winners will face Kidsgrove Athletic or Stafford Town at home in the next round.

The recently postponed League Challenge Cup semi-final between Leek CSOB and Wolstanton United has been rearranged for Wednesday, January 17, at Pointon Park, kick off 7.30pm.

The winners will face Cheadle Town in the final.
