Tuesday Sport: Leek CSOB’s Jamie Pointon was the hat-trick hero in Staffs County inter-league cup win


LEEK CSOB’s Jamie Pointon (pictured) was the hat-trick hero in the Staffordshire County Senior League’s 5-2 win against the Lincolnshire League in the FA Inter-League Cup second round.

The Staffs League were trailing 2-0 when Pointon led the fight back with a goal in the 75th minute and then Wolstanton’s Matt Rogalski equalised on 83 minutes to take the game into extra time.

Pointon put his side ahead after 99 minutes and Wolstanton’s Chris Broad made it 4-2 in the 107th minute, and then Pointon struck again on 109 minutes to complete his hat-trick.

DILHORNE pub team Charlie Bassett’s trounced The Cottage 10-0 at home in Holland Cup Group A in the City Traders League.

Sam Golden and Lee Minor helped themselves to a brace of goals apiece and the other scorers were Adam Hyland, Luke Kosciekowski, Ben Dodd, Tom Dodd, Christos Georgiou and Josh Barber.
