Hospital bed campaigners are taking their fight to Downing Street

SAVE Leek Hospital Action Group supporters and campaigners from other threatened community hospitals in North Staffordshire are taking their fight to London next month.

They will be joined by members of the North Staffs Pensioners Convention, nurses and care workers for a meeting in Parliament with the district’s MPs and NHS England.

Six campaigners will also deliver a letter to Prime Minister Teresa May at 10 Downing Street.

Local councillor Pam Wood, a former nurse and ward manager, who instigated the Save Leek Hospital Action Grou in protest about the removal of community beds at the town’s hospital, said: “We are determined that those beds which have closed temporarily will open again.”

Coaches are being booked to take the campaigners to London on February 28.
