UTTOXETER Racecourse has announced that its charity partner for 2018 will be the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.
The decision marks a change of policy for the East Staffordshire racecourse, which will now focus on building a year-long relationship with one charity partner, as opposed to working alongside a different charity for each one of its racedays.
“It is our intention to engage with a charity partner over the course of the year, so that we can make a greater impact,” explained Uttoxeter Racecourse Executive Director David MacDonald.
“The partnership arrangement means that the ‘Dougie Mac’ will be able to collect at 19 racedays in 2018, and also host fundraising events at the racetrack during the year.
“Our aim for the year is to help raise something in the region of £15,000 to £20,000 for this vital, much-loved and local charity”.
Dougie Mac Hospice volunteers will be at 19 race days with their collecting boxes; and the charity has already committed to hosting a corporate event in the 1907 suite on March 2.
