Raiders struck while restaurant was temporarily shut as owner recovered from surgery

POLICE are appealing for help in tracing thieves who broke into the Mantra restaurant at Cellarhead.

The offenders gained entry by forcing a window and stole a quantity of items and cash sometime between Tuesday, January 30 and Friday, February 2.

The business was temporarily shut while the owner was recovering for surgery.

The Indian restaurant is housed in the former Hope & Anchor Inn, on Leek Road, and has proved popular since being opened by Tarun and Shivani Chada last October.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: Unknown offenders have entered the premises by forcing open a window.

They have completed an untidy search and left with the till from the bar area, a quantity of cash and alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.”
