Man and teenage girl from Staffordshire in hospital after being arrested in Scotland

A MAN and a teenage girl from Staffordshire, who were being sought after going missing, are in hospital following a police incident in Scotland.

Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable John Hawkins said: “Following an incident yesterday (March 5) within a police vehicle in Perth, a 45-year-old man from Uttoxeter and 17-year-old girl from Cannock have been arrested.
“Both are currently undergoing treatment at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee as a result of injuries sustained during the incident at Perth.
“They are expected to appear at court from custody over the coming days, after being released from the hospital.
“Police Scotland has referred the matter to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.”

Police Scotland have named the 45 year old as Stuart Lymer, but the 17 year old, who was reported missing from Cannock on Monday, cannot be named for legal reasons.

The pair are said to have sustained knife injuries after they were put in the police vehicle at the conclusion of a high-profile missing persons’ search.
