LEEK Town boss Neil Baker has signed two new defenders to strengthen his squad in their determined bid to make the end-of-season play-offs for NPL Premier Division status.
The experienced Mat Bailey, pictured left, has joined from NPL Premier Division Stafford Rangers, while teenager Caleb Richards has arrived on loan from League One Blackpool.
Bailey, 32, started his career at Nantwich Town and was initially a striker, ahead of being snapped up by Stockport County. He then moved on to Crewe Alex after various loan spells, where he was converted to a central defender.
He ended his three year spell at Gresty Road, after more loan spells, by joining Northwich Victoria, and then moved on to Nantwich Town and AFC Telford United before joining Stafford Rangers where he was appointed captain.
Bailey produced an impressive performance on making his debut for Blues against Stamford on Saturday.
Richards, 19, pictured right, has had loan spells with Warrington Town, Southport and Marine. He was an unused substitute for the Stamford game.
Blues goalkeeper Ben Chapman has joined NWCL Winsford United to get in some game time after losing his place to Danny Roberts while out injured.
Leek Town are at home to Bedworth United on Tuesday night (kick off 7.45pm).
